Richard M. Berman (born September 11, 1943) is a senior United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, appointed by President Bill Clinton in 1998. He received his B.S. from Cornell University (1964), J.D. from New York University School of Law (1967), and M.S.W. from Fordham University (1996), and assumed senior status in 2011. Judge Berman has presided over numerous high-profile cases including the Jeffrey Epstein sex trafficking case, Tom Brady's "Deflategate" case, the Chelsea bomber trial, and various insider trading and international fraud cases.
