The Facts

  • Democratic nominee Vice Pres. Kamala Harris was joined by former Wyoming GOP Rep. Liz Cheney to campaign in the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan on Monday.

  • At a town hall in Malvern, Penn. Monday, Cheney claimed that many traditional Republicans will "vote the right way" even if "they might not think public about it."

The Spin

Republican narrative

Having chosen to both skip the Al Smith charity dinner and openly mock Christians during a recent rally, Harris's anti-religious stance is clear for all to see. Trump may not be a "conventional" Christian, but he is a true defender of fundamental values such as the nuclear family and the sanctity of life. Christians cannot turn a blind eye to Harris's contempt for traditional American beliefs when at the ballot box this November.

Democratic narrative

With the help of Liz Cheney, Democrats are presenting moderate Republicans with a viable alternative to the tiring Trump circus. Cheney is but one of a growing list of former GOP supporters who are putting country above party. Serious politicians do not need to agree on every single policy issue to understand the scope of the threat Trump poses to the future of American democracy.
