White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre on Wednesday said that outgoing US Pres. Joe Biden will attend the inauguration of his successor next year regardless of whether Democratic Vice Pres. Kamala Harris or Republican former Pres. Donald Trump wins the election.
Jean-Pierre added that Biden "believes in the peaceful transfer of power" and that attending the inauguration is "not about him" but rather "what the American people need to see."
This proves Democrats support a peaceful transfer of power regardless of who wins. Meanwhile, Republicans have been indicating they again won't accept election results if Trump loses.
Biden may be trying to ease tensions ahead of Election Day, but other Democrats are quietly planning to block Trump from returning to the White House. There's no doubt Democrats will challenge the election if Trump wins.
