The Facts

An Israeli delegation, reportedly led by Mossad Chief David Barnea and Shin Bet Director Ronen Bar, headed to Cairo on Sunday to resume Gaza cease-fire and hostage release talks amid the latest escalation with Hezbollah.
Their arrival coincides with that of Hamas representatives in the Egyptian capital on Saturday, who will be briefed by Egyptian and Qatari mediators on the results of ongoing negotiations after the group opted out of the scheduled talks.
A Hamas official stated Sunday that no "discussions about retractions from" the US proposal agreed to in July, nor new Israeli conditions, will be accepted. Key sticking points reportedly include Israeli presence in the Philadelphi and Netzarim corridors and the screening of displaced Palestinians returning to northern Gaza.

A guaranteed end to the war will ensure increased humanitarian aid to the besieged enclave and the release of Israeli hostages, as well as create a better "day after" in Gaza without Hamas in power.
