The Spin

Democratic narrative

Sadly, this resignation takes the FBI one step farther away from being independent and outside of the influence of politics. If Trump didn't want to be investigated, he should've better avoided taking suspicious actions. A conspiracy theorist seemingly loyal just to Trump will now have an almost clear path to leading the bureau.

Republican narrative

Wray had to go in order for the bureau to be reformed. In addition to being uncooperative with Congress' attempts at oversight, Wray orchestrated the politically motivated investigations of Trump and had the gall to question the severity of Trump's injuries after he was nearly assassinated. Patel will make the changes the bureau needs.
