A North Korean defector, now living in South Korea, has been arrested in South Korea after attempting to cross the heavily fortified border back into the North using a stolen bus.
The incident occurred around 1:00 am local time on Tuesday when the man drove the stolen vehicle toward the Unification Bridge, ignoring warnings from soldiers and ultimately crashing into a barricade.
The defector, who had escaped North Korea about a decade ago, reportedly told police he was struggling to adapt to life in the South and wanted to return to his homeland to reunite with his family.
