The Facts

  • Former US Pres. Donald Trump posted a video on Monday that contained a fake newspaper article referencing a "unified Reich" among a series of hypothetical news headlines if he wins the 2024 presidential election.

  • The 30-second video portrayed 1900s-style newspaper images, which referred to "German industrial strength," the start and end dates of World War I, deporting 15M migrants, and suggesting he would fight against "globalists" if reelected.

The Spin

Pro-Trump narrative

As Trump gains popularity among a growing cohort of Americans, the media is resorting back to calling him a Nazi. The video in question was created by a random Trump supporter using stock footage. Despite the fact that you could barely see the brief, tiny historical reference to a "Reich," of which Trump was completely unaware, the corrupt media chose to blow it up to scare voters away from supporting their preferred candidate.

Anti-Trump narrative

Given that Trump has accused immigrants of "poisoning" the country's blood and even had dinner with Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes, this latest scandal should come as no surprise. While the former president may try to pass the blame onto one of his staffers, he is ultimately responsible for the content posted to his accounts.
