According to Russian authorities, eight Ukrainian drones targeted Kazan — the capital of Russia's Tatarstan region, more than 600 miles from the Ukrainian border — on Saturday.
Six drones reportedly hit residential buildings, one struck an industrial site, and one was shot down over a river. No casualties have been reported from the attacks.
The Russian Defense Ministry said that the drones attacked in three waves between 7:40 am and 9:20 am (local time), adding that Russian forces destroyed three drones and neutralized three others through electronic warfare.
The strikes demonstrate Ukraine's growing capability to counter Russian aggression and respond to Moscow's continuous attacks on Ukrainian cities. The incident marks a significant boost in Ukraine's ability to strike deep within Russian territory.
