The Spin

Democratic narrative

Johnson's partisan obstruction is denying voters their chosen representative while protecting powerful interests from transparency. He can deny it has anything to do with the discharge petition related to the Epstein files, but there's little other reason for him not to follow precedent and swear in Grijalva.

Republican narrative

Instead of staging publicity stunts, Democrats should vote to reopen the government. This has nothing to do with the Epstein files, which the Oversight Committee is working on. If Democrats are so upset about this issue, then Johnson, who has the power to run the House as he sees fit, is doing the right thing.
