Liberal Party narrative

Under Mark Carney, the Liberal Party has adapted to the needs of Canadians while staying committed to tackling climate change. By eliminating the consumer levy, Carney has shown leadership in balancing affordability with the necessity of reducing emissions. The industrial carbon tax is crucial for holding large polluters accountable and achieving Canada's emissions targets. At the same time, CO2 reductions will continue thanks to Liberal investments in green jobs, clean technology, and working with provinces to create a sustainable, prosperous future.

Conservative Party narrative

The carbon tax has been a disastrous burden on Canadian families and businesses, and Mark Carney's plan will still punish businesses, hurting jobs and the economy. Under Poilievre, the Conservatives will axe the tax completely, ending both the consumer and industrial levies. Instead of abstract taxes, Conservatives will focus on innovation to speed up green projects and create affordable, zero-emission energy. Canada deserves a government that prioritizes economic growth, not hypocritical and costly climate policies.

Climate-concerned narrative

Canada's climate policy has become the latest political football that both parties pass around; and it's all about saving face, not the planet. The carbon tax, once hailed as the Liberals' green salvation, is now their biggest headache. What was meant to be the cornerstone of climate action has turned into a weapon for the opposition, especially with the Conservatives' "axe the tax" campaign. Carney's now softening on the tax for political expediency, hoping to win votes without actually tackling the core issue.
