The U.S., alongside the governments of Syria and Israel, as well as others in the region, call on the Druze, Bedouins and Sunnis to put down their weapons and to come together with other minorities to build a new and united Syria in peace and prosperity with its neighbors.
While violence against the Druze, as well as the presence of Syrian troops south of Damascus, are red lines for Israel, the country has decided to allow Syrian security forces in the region for the next 48 hours in order to restore stability. Israel will continue to use military force if its conditions are not abided to following this period.
Amid these difficult conditions, the Syrian government remains committed to preventing the bloodshed of its countrymen, as well as preserving the country's unity and territorial integrity. It calls on citizens to abide by the ceasefire and act in a manner that ensures the future stability of the country.
