The cartels are waging war on America and destroying our people with deadly fentanyl. Mexico's government has lost control of its territory to these criminal organizations that murder, rape, and exercise total control just south of our border. If Mexico truly wants to address this crisis, it should welcome American military assistance rather than letting fear of cartels dictate policy. The sovereignty argument rings hollow when cartels effectively control large portions of Mexican territory.
Mexico's sovereignty is non-negotiable and allowing foreign troops on Mexican soil would violate fundamental principles of national independence. The drug trafficking problem requires bilateral cooperation with each country working within its own borders, not American military intervention. The United States could better help by stopping weapons flowing south across the border that fuel cartel violence. This is about respecting international boundaries while finding collaborative solutions to shared challenges.
