The Spin

Democratic narrative

The lawfare waged against McIver is nothing more than an exercise in political intimidation by an administration that cannot abide criticism. McIver committed no crime in her oversight visit to Delaney Hall and was only performing the duties of her role as a congressional representative. Based on the facts alone, McIver will be acquitted of all charges.

Congresswoman LaMonica McIver

Republican narrative

While people have the constitutional right to express their opinions and political beliefs, that does not mean they can do so in a manner that endangers the well-being of law enforcement personnel. McIver crossed that line with her behavior on May 9, when she recklessly attacked HSI and ICE officials while attempting to prevent a lawful arrest.
