This is clearly a tragic event, and authorities would like to extend their condolences to all the friends, family and students who will be affected by this loss. Police are actively probing leads, but no further information will be released at this time to maintain the integrity of the investigation.
Similar to the Brown University shooting, where the classroom of a Jewish professor was targeted, Loureiro is also Jewish and pro-Israel. In both cases, the shooter remains on the run. It must be considered if this is the same person carrying out an anti-Semitic spree.
While this shooting takes place in the aftermath of a shooting at Brown University, roughly 50 miles away, the FBI has said there's nothing to suggest that the two incidents are linked at this stage.
