For all the prattling about negotiations, the opposition has no intention of forging a bipartisan path forward, as evidenced by their reluctance to abandon their ludicrous funding demands. The Democrats would rather play politics to their base than find a meaningful resolution to this crisis.

The Republicans have no one to blame for this shutdown but themselves. The Democrats, for their part, wish for nothing more than to break this impasse, but not at the cost of Americans’ health. To submit to the White House’s demands would mean allowing the Republican healthcare crisis, with all its catastrophic consequences, to continue unabated.
