This vote reflects a deep-seated belief around the country that liberalism has eroded every facet of society. The Defense of Marriage Act, which was backed by both parties in 1996, demonstrates that traditional marriage once had broad support. Obergefell and the Respect for Marriage Act, imposed by judicial fiat, defied history and biology. It has since snowballed into the abortion- and porn-infested culture we see today, and the country has had enough.
Left narrative
The SBC largely ignores the evolving values of most Americans. Obergefell v. Hodges affirmed marriage as a right for all, supported by 68% today. Abortion access, vital for maternal health, is endangered by policies like the Trump administration's EMTALA rollback, risking lives. Liberalism expands freedoms, not destruction. If conservatives wish to promote families, they should start by not criminalizing large swaths of young people who are scared to do so in Trump's America.
