Despite some of the highest rates of gun violence in the nation, including multiple high-profile school shootings, Tennessee has loosened its gun laws and even put guns in the hands of teachers, which certainly hasn't worked. Simple laws like banning open carry and requiring background checks would help save thousands of lives. As the US faces growing online radicalization, there's no reason not to enact common-sense regulations.
Gun control will never work because it ignores moral decay and the root problems. Not too long ago, students regularly brought guns to school to go hunting afterward, yet there were no shootings. Most of today's shooters are mentally ill and seek attention, and they have been known to boost past shooters' rhetoric. The media then riles up the public by fabricating the dangers of guns and blaming it on their favorite bogeyman — the "far-right."
