The Spin

Republican narrative

President Trump has made the right choice based on the Air Force's rigorous, merit-based evaluation, which clearly identified Alabama as the top choice for Space Command headquarters. Multiple investigations by the Government Accountability Office and Pentagon Inspector General confirmed Alabama was selected purely on merit, yet Joe Biden had ignored these findings and chose politics over national security.

Democratic narrative

Claiming Trump made this decision based on merit and not politics is ridiculous, since Trump, in his remarks, made it clear he was punishing Colorado for having mail-in voting. Trump has decided to blame the voting system for his loss in the state and the fact that it has two Democratic senators. This is the definition of petty politics, and this decision isn't the result of some so-called rigorous study.
