The Spin

Pro-Trump narrative

Trump has saved travelers from another job-killing regulation that would have increased airfare costs. The Biden rule forced airlines to pay hundreds per passenger for delays they can't control, like weather and FAA staffing issues. Eliminating government mandates keeps ticket prices low and preserves freedom.

Anti-Trump narrative

Trump killed passenger compensation rules right before the holiday travel season, letting big corporations win while regular people lose again. Airlines made billions in profits after receiving $62 billion in taxpayer bailouts. The industry bought this outcome through aggressive lobbying and million-dollar inauguration donations.

Cynical narrative

This "passenger rights" rule was pure theater — announced with fanfare but left to rot until after Biden lost. The previous administration never drafted a real proposal, so now Trump unsurprisingly killed it because it was Biden's rule. The airlines made excuses and lobbied both presidents and now it's apparent that both political parties love airlines more than passengers.
