The Spin

Left narrative

After years of advocacy by local organizations, it's great that Nichols is finally taking meaningful action to make up for the harm caused by the 1921 massacre. For too long, the massacre has been a stain on Tulsa, and although it's still a horrible event in the city's history, this announcement could help to heal at least some of the long-lasting wounds.

Right narrative

Neither the federal government nor local municipalities can afford to try to spend their way toward healing the wounds of such a terrible massacre. This horrendous event took place more than 100 years ago and whether it's Nichols' plan or a plan being considered by Congress, public money is not the answer to make up for it.
