The Spin

Pro-establishment narrative

The military campaign against the Houthis is necessary to protect international shipping and send a clear message to Iran. For too long, the Iran-backed Houthis have been allowed to indiscriminately attack U.S. shipping and the principle of Freedom of Navigation. If the Houthis and their Iranian sponsors refuse to stand down and abide by international law, the U.S. will prosecute its efforts to the very end.

Establishment-critical narrative

The criminal actions of the U.S. since March 15 are deliberately designed to cause civilian casualties and destroy vital infrastructure in Yemen. The Yemeni Armed Forces, however, will not be cowed by American cruelty from their religious, moral, and humanitarian duties, no matter how many airstrikes they may launch. The Houthis, which stood for Gaza, will not let the blood of the Yemeni people go in vain.
