The WHO has proven itself ineffective and politically compromised, particularly during the coronavirus pandemic. Structural shortcomings, lack of transparency, and its failure to provide critical information impaired countries' ability to respond effectively to the crisis. As the WHO has strayed from its founding mission, becoming increasingly vulnerable to non-scientific agendas and political influence, it's time for a new global health organization.
Abandoning the WHO is a grave mistake that will isolate both countries from crucial global health networks and resources. The WHO remains the only organization with the constitutional authority, legitimacy, and infrastructure to coordinate international health responses effectively. No alternative institution can match its worldwide reach, expertise, and proven track record in managing global health crises.
