The Spin

Pro-Maduro narrative

Díaz died from a heart attack while detained for incitement to hatred and terrorism after violent far-right protests with full legal guarantees. He received immediate medical attention and was transferred to a hospital. Claims of systematic abuse ignore that Venezuela's custody death rate falls below regional averages.

Anti-Maduro narrative

The Maduro regime killed another political prisoner at the notorious El Helicoide torture center. Alfredo Díaz was arbitrarily detained for opposing the criminal government and died in custody under suspicious circumstances. Yet again, the regime has shown its murderous nature.
