The Spin

Pro-establishment narrative

Pro-Iran protesters violently attacked the U.S. Consulate in Karachi, breaching security perimeters and smashing windows in a coordinated assault that left 10 dead. The demonstrators, angered by strikes on Iran, stormed the compound in their hundreds, attempting to overrun American diplomatic facilities while similar mobs targeted U.N. offices and government buildings across Pakistan.

Establishment-critical narrative

Security forces opened fire on what initially began as a peaceful demonstration mourning the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader. However, violence later erupted, resulting in the deaths of at least 20 people across Pakistan, including 10 in Karachi alone. Police used live ammunition and rubber bullets against crowds expressing solidarity with Iran, violating their promises to allow peaceful protests and turning a moment of grief into a massacre.
