The Spin

Pro-government narrative

Nigeria’s government is taking decisive steps to strengthen security and drive progress, working with international partners to tackle long-standing challenges. The EU–Nigeria partnership is already delivering results, with hundreds of millions committed since 2025 across key sectors. U.S. military cooperation is also showing impact, with intelligence support helping eliminate Boko Haram commanders. This coordinated engagement is reinforcing stability and laying the groundwork for sustained economic growth.

Government-critical narrative

It is painful to watch an incompetent Tinubu government sell Nigeria out to the West under the guise of security and partnership. Deals with the EU and U.S. may look promising on paper, but deliver little for ordinary Nigerians. Security cooperation has failed to curb rising terrorism, while MOUs pile up without follow-through. Foreign investment structures, such as U.K. export finance loans, primarily benefit Britain, raising questions about whether Nigeria is gaining a genuine partner or slipping into another dependent relationship.
