Was Lutnick's testimony a masterclass in evasion or a transparent account being weaponized for political gain by Democrats?

The Spin

Democratic narrative

Lutnick's testimony was a masterclass in evasion. He claimed to remember nothing about his visit to Epstein's island yet admitted that he brought his wife and kids there. He refused to answer whether he spoke to Trump about his testimony, and his story keeps shifting. Even some Republicans have joined Democrats in calling for his resignation, while up to three million pages of Epstein files remain hidden.

Republican narrative

Lutnick had three interactions with Epstein over a decade, visited the island for a two-hour lunch with his family, and voluntarily corrected his timeline in his opening statement — that's transparency, not a coverup. Democrats repeated the same questions twice because they wanted video clips, not answers. This investigation should be about victims, not midterm election fodder.
