The Spin

Democratic narrative

Trump is suing taxpayers for billions over tax returns he promised to release 34 times but never did. This amounts to stealing $10 billion from ordinary Americans while poor people using food stamps get vilified. Federal agencies shouldn't reward this blatant robbery with a single taxpayer dime.

Republican narrative

The IRS violated federal confidentiality laws when a rogue, politically-motivated employee illegally leaked Trump's private tax records to left-wing outlets. Weaponizing federal agencies to embarrass political opponents deserves consequences. It's time for everyone who wronged Trump to face accountability.
