Russia-Ukraine

This week saw Wednesday mark 31 years of Ukraine's independence from the Soviet Union and six months since the start of the war.It came a day after Ukraine celebrated its Flag Day on Tuesday, with Zelenskyy pledging to raise the Ukrainian flag over the Russian-occupied territories of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Crimea.Meanwhile, shelling of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant - for which Russia and Ukraine have traded blame - continued this week, with the power cut off on Thursday due to nearby fires allegedly caused by strikes.Despite power being restored on Friday, Ukraine's state energy operator, Energoatom, said there's a risk of radiation leakage and iodine tablets were handed out to residents in the area.This comes as Russia issued a decree ordering an increase of troops by 137k, though the UK Ministry of Defence said on Sunday that this will likely have minimal impact on their combat power.Meanwhile, Ukraine denied responsibility for a car bomb that killed the daughter of Putin-ally Aleksander Dugin in the outskirts of Moscow last week.
