Ukraine made major gains in its counteroffensive to retake territory this week, with Russian forces withdrawing from key strategic areas in the northeast region of Kharkiv on
Saturday.Russia says its forces are leaving "temporarily" to redeploy to the Donetsk People's Republic, as Ukraine has reportedly
opened a new front on the border of Donetsk and Luhansk.Meanwhile, on
Monday the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed that it had wrapped up its visit to Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. In a report published
Tuesday, they said the situation is "not sustainable,"while the UN's secretary general
repeated appeals for demilitarization around the plant.Shelling nevertheless
continued near the facility and its satellite city of Enerhodar, which saw a vital back-up line to the plant repeatedly
struck and disconnected throughout the week.Due to the risk, the plant's last operating reactor was shut down on
Sunday to "transfer it to the safest state cold shutdown."Meanwhile, on
Friday, the EU announced plans to suspend a visa-facilitation agreement with Russia.
