The Spin

Narrative A

This massive settlement shows that polluters can't hide behind corporate restructuring to avoid responsibility. DuPont spun off Chemours in 2015 to dodge PFAS liability, but New Jersey held all three companies accountable for decades of contamination. The deal ensures taxpayers won't foot the cleanup bill while providing resources to protect drinking water and restore damaged natural resources.

Narrative B

While forever chemicals have been linked to health ailments, there is good reason to believe that their impact can be greatly mitigated. The carbon-fluorine bond of PFAS has long been thought nearly indestructible, but science is getting closer to a low-energy method to destroy it. PFAS are also too useful in many industries to do away with entirely at this point.
