Kenneth Chesebro, the architect of Trump's scheme to overturn the legitimate results of the 2020 election, was no dupe, and is remembered by his peers as a bright and competent lawyer before pledging his allegiance to Trump. His disgraceful actions in the aftermath of the election were deliberate and shameful, and a disbarment does little to undo the damage done to American democracy by the fake electors plot.
Pro-Trump narrative
The media has relentlessly smeared Trump and his allies with the fake elector myth, with the truth being that 2020 was not the only instance wherein a candidate prepared alternative electors during an election that may have been in dispute. Only now, thanks to preexisting animus against Trump, are his lawyers being politically persecuted for trying to provide legal advice to the former president.
